Guiding & Outfitting is my full-time profession. I take pride in specializing and providing quality trophy hunts for Elk, Mountain Goat, Shiras Moose, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Grizzly and Black Bear.
I manage my area in co-operation with Game Biologists from British Columbia Ministry of Environment, and I maintain good healthy herds in all species by using the principals of selective hunting techniques.
We operate on approximately 750 square miles in the Purcell Mountains in S.E. British Columbia, Canada. We are the exclusive Guides & Outfitters for this game rich area. No other Outfitter operates within 60 miles to the north and 200 miles to the west of us. Part of our area is in the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy, a 500,000 acre Park. As there are no roads in the Park and access into the wilderness cannot be attained without the use of horses or on foot, (nothing motorized is allowed in), this gives me an added advantage of having herds of animals that have very limited pressure from local hunters. There are no fences, no roads, and no vehicles in our back country, just creeks, waterfalls, glaciers, alpine, solitude and of course, Game!
Our main camp is on Toby Creek and from there horses are used to reach the other camps within the Toby Creek Drainage. Access to our two base camps is by road and access to all our other camps is by horse.
All our camps and cabins have horse corrals and are well tended and equipped. All the camps are cabins, including the spike camps and are all equipped with propane and come with wood stoves for heat. Our horses are all corralled and fed with hay, which we pack in by horses throughout the summer. There is no wasted hunting time in the early morning hours because of lost horses that have been hobbled. We have been told our horses and mules are some of the best in S. E. British Columbia and our trail network is "second to none", with Joe and his helper clearing and upgrading the trails every June, July and August.
Any spike camp that you will be placed in will be selected based on the species you are hunting, your age, physical condition, your objectives and/or limitations. Many of our clients prefer to hunt out of a spike camp with a hunting partner, going different directions from camp, hunting alone with his guide during the day but returning to camp each evening to share the evening talk with his friend. If we can accommodate this wish, we'll certainly do so.
I do not think you will be sorry if you decide to hunt with us. Our main objective at Toby Creek is to give you a good, honest effort at getting your quality trophy and conducting the hunt so that you have a true wilderness experience that you will remember for a long time to come. If you are looking for an excellent fair chase hunt in any of the species we have to offer, with excellent accommodation, great cooks, good quiet mountain horses & fine reliable guides who have an average of 10+ years experience at Toby Creek, then my area is the place to come.

All our hunts are done on horseback and include the primary animal and two or three secondary animals for the prices listed below. We also feature a "Best Deal" hunt where two primary animals are offered along with two secondary animals. An example would be Elk/Goat combo including 1 whitetail deer. We find these "Best Deal" hunts to be highly sought after. We reserve hunting spaces on a first come basis and because we do not take many hunters throughout the season, it is advised to book early.
All prices quoted include g.s.t. and royalties and are all one guide to one hunter. Two on one hunts can also be arranged on special request.

The price of the hunt includes: Transportation to and from Cranbrook, B. C. Canada. Camp and cabin lodging during hunt. Riding and pack horses with appropriate tack including scabbards and saddlebags. Guide, Cook and great Food. Field dressing of game. Antler, head and hide preparation with horns labeled and made safe for air travel. We also have arrangements made with an outstanding taxidermist in the U.S. who will come and pick up the trophy for you at no cost, if requested. Also by request, we can make arrangements with a local butcher in Invermere who will process your meat for you while you are in camp (at your expense, of course!).
