Before, During and After your Hunt

Before Your Hunt Begins

The following information is provided in anticipation of your visit. Please contact us directly, if you have any questions or require additional information. As this may be your first hunting adventure in Canada, we have operated many successful hunting trips and are willing to assist you throughout the process from planning travel arrangements, to registering firearms, to helping you onto your horse!.

We offer an all-inclusive hunt once you arrive at Toby Creek Outfitter's base camp. Until we get you there, there are some considerations and maybe some additional costs to you, like before/after the hunt accommodations.

Prior to Hunting

Once we have received your deposit for your hunt(s), and the dates have been confirmed, we will work with you on making the necessary travel plans and accommodation arrangements for before and after the hunting trip.

Travel

You can fly to Cranbrook, British Columbia (approx. one and one-half hours from Base Camp) or direct to Calgary International Airport (approx. two and one-half hours). We will reserve rooms in a hunter-friendly hotel for your day of arrival and for the night before your departure from either airport. Near Radium Hot Springs to Toby Creek

NOTE: You will require valid photo Identification, preferably a Passport. A visa is NOT required to enter Canada.

Depending upon the hunting package, dates and availability, we will make every effort to meet you at the airport or hotel in Calgary or Cranbrook. If you should plan to drive, we are a scenic two hour drive from Clagary, through the Rocky Mountains and Banff National Park. The road is a first-rate hiqhway. Many hunters choose to drive to Toby Creek, and visit the Rocky Mountains, our local area and its Hot Spring Resorts and Banff upon their return to Calgary.

If you should plan on spending a few extra days in our beautiful back-yard, we will be able to provide you with local points of interest.

We will provide you with the forms and instructions for obtaining firearm permits and access to bring your rifles into Canada. This is a requirement by law, yet the process is simple and straightforward. Allow yourself approx.. 30 days for the process (or plan on spending at least one hour at the airport immigration office, completing the forms).

We will instruct you on purchasing the applicable licenses and tags for your specific hunt(s). All "fees" will be required to be paid in full prior to embarking on your flight here.

During the Hunt

Toby Creek Outfitters will provide:

Lodging for the duration of the hunt. (Note: Hunt is over at time of kill(s))
Accommodations: Base camps are complete with hot showers and private bunk houses, and outdoor facilities. Satellite cabin camps have cookhouses and bunkhouses. Most spike camps are rustic cabins with outdoor facilities.

Professional Guides
Guides are hired for their hunting skills and horsemanship, as well as their knowledge of the area and friendliness.

Horses
Quiet and gentle trail horses for Riding and Packing, with appropriate equipment for your comfort.

Home-cooked Meals
We'll feed you. Our chefs, o.k., our great cooks will prepare a hot breakfast and hearty dinner while on your hunts. Lunch is also provided. Our guides like to eat and you will enjoy the tast meals prepared just for you.

Transportation:
to and from major airports: Calgary International or Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Field Dressing of any game

Antler, head and hide preparation with horns labeled and made secure for air shipping

Hunts
Fair-chase hunts using horses and one-on-one guide services.

After the Hunt

Once you have been made your kill(s) or if the days have gone by too quickly, then the hunt is over.

If you had a successful hunt, we can arrange for a local taxidermist to care for your kill and to make arrangements to deliver your trophy to you. We can, also by request, make arrangements with a local butcher in Invermere (20 minutes from Camp) to process your meat while you are still in camp.

Depending upon your plans, we will either provide you with transporation back to the airport or see you on your way to your next destination.

We can also arrange lodging for you at the Panorama Ski & Golf Resort for a few extra days if you like, or suggest a great place at Radium Hotsprings if you want to soak your muscles in the natural hot springs.
